KRS Makes a Move

(Mar. 5, 2018)

Early in the week, the Kunlun Red Star made a big move lifting themselves into a tie for first place in the CWHL standings following a three-win week.

First, welcoming Les Canadiennes to Shenzhen, China, the Red Star swept the final road series of the North American clubs overseas. Returning Olympic bronze medalist goaltender Noora Räty was outstanding in net for Kunlun earning both shootout and shutout wins in the two-game homestand. Kunlun followed that up with a decisive Sunday afternoon victory over the Vanke Rays. The increasing skill of the team’s Chinese born players was evident in the win as both Lu Wen and Rui Zhu picked up their first career CWHL goals.

The pair of Chinese clubs will end their season in Boston, MA with the Red Star looking to secure the Chairman’s Trophy, while Vanke attempts to catch Markham for the fourth and final playoff position.
