The Kunlun Red Star have added another offensive threat to the fold with the return of 2017 CWHL draft pick Alex Carpenter.
Carpenter joins Kunlun following the final round of cuts from the 2018 Winter Olympic US women’s national team. The decorated forward was selected by the Red Star with the 13th overall pick in the second round of last year’s entry draft. In her first two games with KRS, she has tallied 5 points on 4 goals and 1 assist.
The Massachusetts native and former Boston College Eagle brings with her an extensive international hockey resumé, which includes Olympic silver (2014 Sochi), four World Championship gold medals (2017 US, 2016 Canada, 2015 Sweden, 2013 Canada), and a gold (2011 Sweden) and two silver (2012 Czech Republic, 2010 US) at the U18 World Championship.
The dynamic scoring threat’s collegiate career was highlighted by the honour of the Patty Kazmaier Award in 2015. The prestigious award recognizes the top female college ice hockey player in the US, with Carpenter being the first and only Boston College Eagle to receive the award to date.
